大腰筋は、股関節を介して骨盤の動きを伴って大腿部を大きく前後に動かすときに働く。しかも体表面に近い筋群をリラックスさせた状態で股関節を大きく屈曲・伸展させる動作をするときに大腰筋の働きが大きくなる。大腰筋をより有効に刺激するために、ベッドに寝た状態で膝を高く保って股関節を屈曲させるときは、屈曲を強めるために膝を胸に押し付ける方向に外力を加える。股関節を伸展させるときは、腰をしっかり伸ばした状態にしたうえで、股関節をさらに引き伸ばすような外力を加える。この外力は、膝の下に充てたレバーアームの動きによって行うが、レバーアームからの外力が無理なく体に加わるように、ベッド自体を動作中に頭側または足側に移動させ、体の位置が変わることによって外力を効果的に加えるように工夫されている。
基本的には、スポーツ選手が整体技術を持ったトレーナーによって施術を受けるときに、仰向けに寝た選手をトレーナーが、膝を伸ばした状態の脚を頭側に押して大腿部の裏側をストレッチさせたり、膝を曲げた状態で膝を胸側に押し付けたりする動作に似ている。ベッド移動式大腰筋トレーニングマシンでは、トレーナーではできにくい仰向け姿勢での股関節の伸展ストレッチもできることが大きな特徴である。ベッド移動式大腰筋トレーニングマシンを利用した人では、その深いストレッチ感にやすらぎ感を持つ人が多い。股関節の動きを伴いリハビリとしても有効であると考えられる。
Psoas major muscle works in the motion that the thigh moves with the pelvis to frontward and backward of the hip joint greatly. When the hip joints are flexed and/or extended in the condition that the muscles near body surface are relaxed, the psoas major muscle works effectively in the large range of motion. When the hip joint of a person who lies on the bed in a face up position is flexed as the knee is moved closer to the breast with the external force, the psoas major muscle are stretched with other muscles around the hip joint. On the other hand, when the hip joint is extended as the back of waist is also extended by the external force, the psoas major muscle is stretched backward with other muscles around the waist and back. The external force is work on the body by the lever arm which is movable and breaking with an electric instrument. In addition of the work of lever arm, the surface board of the bed moves to the reverse direction of the lever arm to emphasize the effect of the external force. The lever arm is attached the under of the knee of a person on the bed, and the resistant load against the external force is adjustable previously by the electrical system.
Basically, the passive stretch movement of hip joint on the moving bed is similar to the movement that the trainer of skillful technique treats the athletes as to stretch muscles and tendons of the back side of leg and hip.
It is a good point of the psoas training machine that the stretch movement of the hip and pelvis (lumbar) in the face up position is possible to be done, which is difficult for the trainers. The feeling of comfortable are obtained for many persons who used this machine. It is expected to use this machine for the rehabilitation, too.

移動式ベッドの上であおむけになり、両膝の裏の部分にレバーアームを充てる。
レバーアームを頭側に傾けることにより、腰を丸めながら膝を胸に引き付けるように体を丸める。この時、移動式ベッドは、足側に移動することによって体の屈曲が強められる。次に屈曲している股関節を伸ばすようにしてレバーアームを足側に回転させる。膝と腰を伸ばすようにしてレバーアームの上に乗せた背伸び姿勢をとる。この時、移動式ベッドは頭側に移動し、腰から背中側全体がストレッチされた状態になる。股関節の屈曲された姿勢と、股関節が伸ばされた姿勢を数回くりかえす。
A person lies on the moving bed in a face up position and sets the lever-arm underneath the knee. The knee should be moved toward the breast with the lever-arm so as to flex the hip joint. In this case, the surface board of the bed moves to the foot-ward as the lever-arm pushes the knee toward the breast effectively. After the hip joint and the low back are flexed sufficiently, the hip joint and knee should be extended with the lever-arm which is moved to the foot-ward. The hip joint and back are extended likely as an arch on the bed which is moving to the head-ward. The moving of the surface board of the bed enhances the effect of stretching of the body. The flexion and extension of the hip joint are repeated several times with the lever-arm of the moving bed.

片足をベッドの上に伸ばし、片足だけをレバーアームの上に乗せ、レバーアームのパット部分を膝の裏側の位置に置く。ベッドは体の左右方向に傾くことができるようになっているので、脚を持ち上げた側が高くなるようにベッドを傾ける。レバーアームに乗せた片足の膝が胸に近づくようにレバーアームとともに股関節を屈曲させて体を丸くする。この時に、移動式ベッドは足側に移動し、体全体がレバーアームに近づくため、股関節の屈曲を強めるように働く。最大に屈曲された状態から股関節を自発的に伸ばすようにしてアームレバーを足側に押し戻しながら回転させ、レバーアームの上に乗りこむようにして片足側に背伸び姿勢をとる。この時、ベッドは頭側に移動し、体全体がレバーアームから遠くなるため、片側の腰や背部がストレッチされる。屈曲伸展の運動を数回繰り返す。
反対側の脚も同様な手順で運動させる。この場合、ベッドの左右の傾きは、足をアームレバーに乗せた側が高くなるように調節する。

The surface board, which is the moving part of the bed, is designed to incline toward each side of right and left by 30 degree. The inclination of the surface board is able to give a person the stretching stimulus in the various gradient of twisting of the waist, hip joint and pelvis.
A person lies on the moving bed with one leg on the bed and other leg on the cushion of the lever-arm. The inclination of the surface board is set as the leg-side on the lever-arm is higher than the leg-side on the bed without the lever -arm.
The axis of the lever-arm is attached on the base of bed and the lever-arm revolves to the opposite direction with the surface board by an electrical switch system which works on the vertical position of the lever-arm.
When a person flexes the knee and brings the knee and thigh close to the breast positively with the lever arm, the surface board moves to the foot-ward direction. The moving of the surface board to the foot-ward direction brings the whole body close to the lever-arm, resulting to produce the external force to strengthen the flexion of the hip joint and the stretching of the back part of a body.
After flexion of the lower part of a body, a person extends the knee and hip joint positively with the lever-arm to the foot-ward direction. In the extension of the knee and hip joint, the surface board of the bed is moved to the head-ward direction by an electric motor power when the lever-arm passed over the vertical point.
The moving of the surface board to the head-ward direction assists to produce the external force for stretching of the whole body, especially the back part of a body.
